Voysey, Charles

(1828–1912)
   Sect Founder.
Voysey was educated at the University of Oxford and he was ordained into the Anglican ministry. After serving in a series of parishes, he was indicted for heresy and he was deprived of his orders in 1871. One of the teachings that aroused suspicion was his denial of the doctrine of eternal punishment (see also Bishop colenso). In consequence, Voysey organised his own group in London, known as the Theistic Church. After his death this body split to create the Free Religious Movement.
